Viva La Veggie – Carrie Engle

Viva La Veggie is all about providing quality food that lessons the consumption of animals. You don’t have to be vegetarian, but one replacement a week goes a long way. We also want to create a community so we can bring awareness to social issues like homelessness. A year ago, I lived in my car while attending school, working and volunteering at campus events. I wasn’t on drugs, or lazy, quite the opposite. I know what it’s like to have harships and I want to show people that you can do more than overcome obstacles, you can succeed. Eventually, I would like to have carts that specialize in different products. I would also like to have contests on social media where people pitch ideas for the name of items on the menu. We would also donate portions to an organizations that helps people experiencing homelessness in our community.

The 1Z Supersuit is a fashionable, utilitarian jumpsuit for men and women that is an emblem of our shared desire to get down to the work of creating new stories for a new future. As we downsize, economize, and re-prioritize, we need a mode of dress that expresses our common purpose toward simplification and unification – a purpose that begins with the “I” and thrives through the “1.” We express our “common thread” in action and attire. The “1Z” is conceptual fashion with a cause – It’s fun to be 1!! The forthcoming 1Z website will be the hub for selling the suit, sharing stories, and exchanging ideas. I spent the past two years developing the prototype and just finished a start-up course with Climb in Tucson.

Cirkled In – Reetu Gupta

Cirkled In is “LinkedIn for students and colleges –Only Better!” - a Data Analytics and Machine Learning based college recruitment platform, matching students and best-fit colleges, creating win-win while leveling the playing fields for all students. Every year, colleges have enrollment goals along with equity & diversity goals. Hence, they proactively recruit high school students spending $10B-$100B. But their insanely inefficient and antiquated marketing methods get them meager 1% returns on this spend, while missing out on most of the goals. It costs them over $2,500 on average to recruit one student. Worst part -without a good fit match, 60% graduation rate is a losing proposition for both students & colleges. Cirkled In is disrupting this very market, modernizing the recruitment process to be in line with needs of colleges and students, creating win-win.

The alfajor, is very popular in countries like Argentina, Peru and Ecuador. There are several recipes and variations in different regions, but basically, it consists of two delicate buttery cookies filled with dulce de leche. From its headquarters in Los Angeles, considered one of the most fascinating cities in the world, Pamela and Lugina seek to make their way to other corners and states of the country and bring the exquisite taste of their unique alfajores. Lilu, Inc – Adriana Vazquez Ortiz

Lilu is making pumping more comfortable and compatible with the lifestyle of the modern mom. 62% of moms have difficulties pumping enough milk for their babies and have to use breast massage, while pumping, to try to pump more milk, faster. In fact, research from Stanford shows that incorporating breast massage while pumping increases milk output by 50%, helps produce more nutrient-rich milk, and can help moms maintain their milk supply in the long run. But pumping and massaging at the same time is tedious, unproductive and ultimately unsustainable for many moms, which is why not being able to pump enough milk is a leading reason for moms to quit pumping earlier than planned. This is why we created the Lilu Massage Bra, the first pumping bra with automated massage to help moms pump more milk, hands-free. After 3 years of research, product development and intensive user testing, we launched the Lilu Massage Bra for sales in Q3 of 2019 and have shipped over 250 units to paying customers to date. We are MIT and Penn designers and engineers, working closely with researchers from the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. We have been backed by HAX-SOSV, Quake Capital and received grants from Philips, BFTP, YCombinator, the NSF, among others.
